Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn is ignoring the following actions by Tampa Police Department personnel which raise serious doubt about how they resolved that Fatimah Abdallah’s death was an accident.

Contradictory Tampa police actions:

• Tampa Police Crime Scene Technician Shelby Garman asked that her name be removed from the official Tampa PD General Offense Report posted at floridafamily.org because of “fear of Muslim reprisal.”
• Tampa Police Homicide Detective Sonja Wise hand wrote on August 18, 2009 the word “Homicide” as the Type Of Offense on page 3 of 34 of the Tampa PD General Offense report.
• Tampa Police Crime Scene Technician Matthew Evans reported on August 18, 2009 the word “Homicide” as the Offense on page 24 of 34 of the Tampa PD General Offense report. 
• Assistant Police Chief Marc Hamlin on May 20, 2011 made up a new undocumented explanation for the cause of death when he told the St. Petersburg Times “So it could be that the convulsing of the body is what the family could have thought was her maybe trying to hurt herself.”  This new “convulsions” theory is not supported by the medical examiner’s report, autopsy, TPD General Offense report or witness statements.

TampaPolice did NOT:

• Verify the excuse family members gave for waiting 2 1/2 hours before calling 911.
• Question why Ali claimed he called 911 dispatch when dispatch record reports that Muhammad called 911.
• Question why Muhammad told 911 dispatch a different version of Fatima’s death than what he told detectives.
• Rely upon an independent translator but upon a family member to translate the account of the only alleged witness to Fatima’s death. 
• Properly account or resolve how Fatima’s lower right ribs 4 thru 9 were broken and other injuries were sustained to her face and mouth.   
• Fully investigate or identify blood evidence on a large shirt, floor and stairs.   
• Did not interview neighbors.
